June 30.2009

This cat is how I feel many days....how about you? LOL
Here it is the last day of June. Jeremy called and his books have been reviewed and approved already. That was super fast since they were just sent out Monday (yesterday). So, he is signed up for the checkpoint in August not September ...good thing! He goes the 24/25th for written tests and an oral presentation. I have not doubt he will do well. His head pro announced to the staff that he was going to his check point and is very pleased he is on his way to completing this important leg of the program.
This was the last day for resumes for the opportunity director job. I have heard nothing. I am just hoping I at least get an interview.
At this point I doubt that I will be going to Florida next week. Since Jeremy is going in Aug. for his checkpoint, he may come home in Sept. for a long weekend. And we are planning on going down for Thanksgiving.
Going to town tomorrow. Have several bags of things to drop off at Goodwill. Then to bank and to help Bill with the computer.
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

June 27, 2009

The little girl's name was Beth. When Beth started swimming at her local swim school, she quickly became the top swimmer in her age group and her teacher told her parents that she had a lot of natural ability.

One day Beth watched the Barcelona Olympics on TV. As she clapped her hands and cheered for her swimming idols, Beth decided that she wanted to win an Olympic gold medal of her own.

Beth joined the local swimming squad and started training. Every morning she got up at 4:30am and went swimming before school began. She progressed well and when she was 17, Beth qualified for the National Championships.

At the championships, Beth needed to finish first or second to make it into the Olympic team. At the sound of the starter's gun, Beth dived into the water and swam as hard and as fast as she possibly could. When she touched the wall and looked up at the results board, she discovered that she had finished sixth.

Beth was very disappointed but she returned home and trained even harder. The following year she finished 5th at the Nationals and the year after that she came 7th.

Beth never did make it to the Olympics, but her years of diligent swimming training led her to join the National Lifesaving Association.

One morning while she was patrolling the beach, Beth saw a young boy struggling in the water. She dived into the raging surf and managed to pull the boy to safety.

The boys parents were crying uncontrollably as they hugged Beth and thanked her over and over again for saving their little boy's life.

In that instant, Beth learned a lesson that would stay with her forever. She realised that even if you don't attain a specific goal, the process of pursuing your dreams often leads you to achieve success in ways you have never imagined.

So never be afraid to reach for your dreams. The skills you learn and the person you become are the real rewards that come from your efforts to transform your dreams into reality.

Ok this is Mandi or myself dragging Jeremy to get his bookwork finished to get his class A ranking.

HE DID IT!!!

What a wonderful anniversary present. He has worked very hard to complete all the books at each level and taken the previous tests to pass each of the first two levels plus the playing test. Now level three is complete~it has been the hardest and most work plus he had changed clubs in the middle of the bookwork so some things had to be udated. I am SOOOO proud of him! He will mail the books in this Monday and then sign up for the test in Sept. Many doors will open for him when he completes this level. I just wish I was there to give him a big hug and kiss. Love you Jeremy!!

June 23, 2009

Had lunch today with Patty. Seems that everyone is leaving for summer trips. Linda C. is gone to Miss. and Patty will be gone for the most part for the next few weeks. No more lunches for awhile I guess. :(
Ok, I have decided to maybe come out of retirement. I have put in my resume for the Cosh. Opportunity School director. As of today Patty said there were about 26 resumes turned in so I doubt I have a chance at the position but what the heck. I would love to have a chance to do the job. Resumes are being taken until June 30 so I won't know anything for awhile. But if anyone out there knows any of the board members and can give me a good plug...LOL.
Been working on computer things for Bill, Pat's step dad. I learned how to make a snapshot of a page and was able to give him some tutorial pages which should help when I am not around. Just goes to show that there are still many things to learn to do on the computer.
Hope everyone is having a great summer!!

Ah, it is Sunday and that means another new episode of True Blood on HBO...yipee!! Call me crazy.... The pic is of Eric one of the main character vampires in the series.
Spent a quiet day at home. Pat didn't sleep well last night and cat napped all day...I did too. LOL. Jeremy called to wish him a happy father's day. Pat went in to town this morning to give Bill his father's day gift. We had dinner with Mert and Bill for father's day last night at the Pro's Table in Philly. It was very good as always.

My friend Linda Martin sent me an email today with the sad news that Teresa Lucas passed away last night. She had battled her cancer for over a year. Wade and the children were with her when she passed. Although I didn't know her well, Teresa was well liked by many and a wonderful mother and wife. I am sure that she will be missed by family and friends. Thoughts and prayers are with Wade and the children.

It is supposed to storm most of tomorrow. Ugh! The weather to our west has been terrible with storms and tornadoes. We were under a watch last night but only had one brief downpour. We need the rain but not the storms.

This was my horoscope for today:

Ever walked into a gourmet ice cream store and been excited by the sheer number of flavors available to you? Ever noticed how like that ice cream store, life offers an equally astonishing number of choices? And not just the big, dramatic ones either -- the amount of options you have when it comes down to the moment is truly amazing when you think about it.

Interesting huh?

Even after all my threats to disown them, Jeremy and Mandi managed to give me a scare....LOL Unfortunately the picture is very blurry but you get the point. I told them NOT to go to Vegas while they were out west and get hitched or else!!! They of course had to get a dig in and sent me this picture. Too funny! They found this guy in Phoenix I guess?? They were off to the Grand Canyon today. What a great vacation they are having!!
Took brother John to Z'ville today for a stress test. It took 3 hours so I went shopping. Got more landscaping lights and s little something for Bill for Father's Day. Didn't see much else that interested me.
I watched the first episode of True Blood on HBO last night. It is season 2. Good show but I really liked the books the best.
Gonna be a hot week I am afraid. Don't have anything else to do outside the house so I will enjoy the air conditioning. :)

June 13, 2009 A Day of Celebrations!!!

Today was Erica McKenzie Boose's birthday and we went to Zanesville for her surprise party. There were a lot of friends and family there. Great food and fun.
She was totally surprised!

Today was also a graduation party for Kelly Clark Bratton. Linda and family had set up a BBQ in the backyard. Good food and friends...also cake from Litty's....yummmo~
Kelly will graduate tomorrow from Ohio State as part of the largest graduation class ever. Way to go Kel!!!

One year ago today Jeremy met his Mandi. They have been together since then. What a wonderful year they have had. With all relationships there were ups and downs but mostly ups. Happy Anniversary you two! Love you both!

June 11, 2009

Well it finally decided to rain today. Been a constant drizzle all morning. Some thunder earlier but nothing much. Dogs have been chewing on chewies and sleeping...imagine that???
I am contemplating a trip to Florida to see Jeremy. Mandi is coming home in July for two weeks and he will be alone so I thought he might enjoy some company for a few days~even if it is just good ole mom. Cheap air fare now so ..... It kinda depends on my new venture and how that all pans out. More on that later when I find out more. I haven't seen him in a year so it is time! Pat and I are planning on going down at Thanksgiving but that is a long way off. Right now he and Mandi are getting ready to fly to Arizona tomorrow to see her brother. I told them both NOT to go to Vegas and elope! LOL
Going to Z'ville to get hair done this afternoon. Linda C. and I are going. She is then coming home to get Kelly and then off to the airport to get Kendra and Blane. Kelly graduates from Ohio State on Sunday. Her party is on Saturday and should be fun.
Jacie said she was having a garage sale tomorrow...I hope it does not rain for her big day. She is braver than I am...I just pack stuff up and take it to Goodwill.
I'm missing the Washington dinner tonight. Of all the nights, they decided on the same night I had my hair appt. ugh! Sent my regrets to Rachel who will pass them along to the group.

I added a counter to my blog site. It is for the HBO series True Blood. I am so into this series. Vampires, werewolves, shifters, faeries, you name it.....I have read all the books...all 9 of them!!! Can't wait til Oct when the next one comes out.

June 9, 2009

Had lunch yesterday with the secretary bunch from school along with Patty and Todd. Great to see everyone.
Working on a birthday gift and graduation gift for friends. Nice to relax making a few things after a break from crafting. Have a few new punches and paper to "play" with.
It's been hot and humid past couple of days. Just wish it would rain and cool off.

Pat and I went to town last night to get a sandwich/ ice cream (yum) and then went to the fairgrounds to see the night glow. WOW! We parked along the racetrack and I called Patty on her cell. She was in the infield directing the balloon people. She invited us to come on over. It was amazing to see the balloons up close. I had to back way up to get the pictures since we were so close. The night glow was wonderful. Thank you Patty for letting us see the behind the scenes activities. No wonder she enjoys ballooning so much.
We got to see our new landscape lights all lite up as we came up the drive. They look great! Think we will get another box to fill in more particularly in the back yard.

June 5, 2009

In this time of graduations I thought this little story was appropriate.
THE SNEEZE

They walked in tandem, each of the 92 students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With their rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt.

Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.

This class would NOT pray during the commencements – not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.

The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.

The speeches were nice, but they were routine until the final speech received a standing ovation.

A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then it happened.

All 92 students, every single one of them, SNEEZED!

The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said, "GOD BLESS YOU." And he walked off stage.

The audience exploded into applause. This graduating class had found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the court's approval.

Our outdoor landscape lights have had it. So Pat is going to pull up the wires (they were electric not solar) and we are going to put in new solar ones. They aren't as bright but we can put in more of them if necessary. So that means a trip to Z'ville to check out the different types at Lowes. Then to Sam's to get some things -hey they might have the lights too??? Have to look. Then to the pet store for a stripping blade to finish up Brody's coat and then to eat BarB Q at Bill's on old 60. It is VERY good!!
Don't know if we will go today or later this weekend.
Supposed to be a nice weekend so I am sure the balloons will be flying. Patty will be a happy happy girl. I hope we get to see them out our way.

June 1, 2009

So today is the first official day of hurricane season. I used to worry about Jeremy and Mandi in Florida and the storms ( I still do ) but after Ike last year I worry about us just as much. We were without electric for days and that means no water as well. Strange how weather in one part of the country ie. gulf coast can come up our way and do so much damage. There were many homes damaged by wind and rain here in Ohio from Ike. In fact AEP has had to raise rates to help pay for all the overtime crews got paid to restore power to everyone.
Very quiet weekend here. It was so nice out that Pat and I sat on the deck with the dogs quite a lot. Brody is slowly learning and likeing to play ball but not nearly as much as our little Boo did. We miss her! Ali is content to sit on the swing and sun herself. LOL Pat got Brody a new little wading pool and he has ventured in a couple of times. He blows bubbles when he puts his head under the water. Too funny. Mert and Bill stopped over yesterday just to visit. They had been to Raven's Glen for lunch and were out and about on such a lovely afternoon so stopped by for a bit.
