Computer problems!!

Yea for Patty!! She was in the top 100 fundraisers for the Race for the Cure. She attended their celebration dinner the other night in Columbus. Unfortunately the "guy" who always comes out of nowhere at the last minute to beat her out of #1 spot did it again so she was officially #2 but that is still terrific. Congratulations Patty!Great pic by the way.

It has been awhile since I posted. Computer problems here at home. About a week ago, we started getting knocked off at random. Both Pat's desktop and my laptop were experiencing the same problem. We fiddled with it and got either the desktop or the laptop to work but not both at the same time. GRRRRR~frustration soon set in. Called Time Warner and our connection was fine so it had to be on our end. So off to Wally World we went to get a new router thinking that had to be the problem. NOT! So after a day of trying most everything, we thought the 10 yr. old modum might not be compatible with the now new router so off we went to Wally again to get a new modum. Pat installed that and again...no go!! He worked so hard for hours trying to get things to work. After talking to some tech support for nearly 2 hours they concluded that his desktop was not working properly and he thinks during a recent Microsoft update some files were lost. We finally got the desktop working but not the laptop so we decided to share the desktop for the time being. Pat had been wanting to purchase a new desktop but was waiting til fall when the new Mac operating system comes out. (He is fed up with PC and going back to MAC) Well now he will HAVE to get a new machine so we can get back to being a two computer household.I can't do much crafting without my laptop working but I will survive a few more weeks...lol

Jeremy goes to Port St. Lucie tomorrow to take his final checkpoint on Mon. and Tues. He has worked hard to get this far in his career. Taken a while but he is near the end now. Wishing him good luck! Love you Jeremy and miss you sooo much!!

Last night I went to Z'ville with Linda to get hair cuts. We had dinner at Adornettos and then made a few stops for dog food and paper at Staples. Good to sit and visit since she has been gone all summer.

Today I had a late breakfast with Diane Schlegel. It was also nice to catch up with her and all her plans for the gifted program this year. She and the family had fun this summer on their adventurous vacations. While Jenny is at camp in New England, she and Denly visit lots of local landmarks. Such fun!

I spent this afternoon crafting some new things. Came out rather nice so I hope people will like them for holiday gifts.
Only a week or so and all will be back to school. Hope everyone is ready for a GREAT year!

It was a beautiful day today so this afternoon I took Brody for his play date with my brother's doberman Zoey. Boy was it fun! They took some time checking eachother out and then the games were on. They ran, chased the ball and barked at a couple of birds. Brody is not used to being off leash so it was great so see him running free in the fenced in yard. John is watching him for us when we go to see Jeremy and Mandi this fall. I am sure they will get along just fine. He still has to learn to use the doggie door though.....

He is totally wiped out. He almost fell asleep on the way home. Now it is time for his dinner and then I am sure he will crash. LOL...silly little boy!

I have officially one week to do things in my 50's~my how time flies. Getting old just sucks!! So does retirement when you don't have anyone to enjoy the freedom with you!

I have begun reading a new book on my Kindle about the FLDS called Escape. It is about the life of a girl who was married to the Jessup family and her escape from the lifestyle. I read another similar book last summer and enjoyed it so thought this would be a change from all the vampire novels of recent months. LOL

We were rained out of our doggie playdate last week so we hope to try again tomorrow. I just hope Brody and Zoe get along and have fun in the fenced in yard.
Pat has to work today. Has some billings to do. All the same job but each company wants the same info on "their" invoice paper in a certain way so it takes forever to complete. He had hoped to install the new air conditioner in the workshop but that will have to wait until he gets home.

I have heard that they have interviewed for the opportunity school director position and I was not called so I take it I am not of interest to them for the position. Oh, well. Would have been an exciting challange but not ment to be.

It is almost 5AM and the dogs will be wanting their breakfast soon. I have a massage at 11 and that is it for the day. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

It's still raining this morning but I guess it is supposed to stop this afternoon. Last night I went to the monthly Washington staff dinner. We met at the Warehouse and had a great time. We celebrated Suzanne's 50th birthday...it isn't until Aug. 5 but we did it early. While we were there, we called Linda in Miss. and wished her happy birthday which is Friday. Good times with good friends.

Taking Brody to see my brother's dog Zoe today. She is a doberman and is bigger than he is so we aren't sure they will play but we shall see. He needs a playmate! Ali just isn't going to run and chase at her age.

July 20. 2009

Not much going on here lately. Pat and I went to Newark yesterday to Best Buy. Looked at mini computers and a wireless radio but didn't purchase anything. I went into Michael's to look around and believe it or not I didn't buy anything there either. SHOCK! We had lunch at Olive Garden and then home.

Have to go into see Bill today to help him with his computer. He gets confused and forgets passwords but hey, at 75 he is doing great...I know some 20 year olds who can't remember passwords! LOL

I can't sleep if you wonder why I am writing this at 2:16 AM. I am on the couch and have Ali beside me asleep and Brody laying on my shoulder asleep. Guess they love me....

"You must have control of the authorship of your own destiny. The pen that writes your life story must be held in your own hand."

Kinda thought provoking huh?

Pretty slow week this week. I am still reading Columbine. Very interesting all the things the news reported that were incorrect. Such a sad story that could maybe have been stopped if things had been different.

I ordered our tickets to go to Florida for Thanksgiving tonight. We will be there 5 days. Just long enough to drive Jeremy and Mandi crazy...lol.

Had a lovely dinner with Mandi and her parents at The Pro's Table tonight. There was only one thing missing....JEREMY!! I hate that he is stuck in Florida and couldn't be with us. It's been over a year since we have seen him. It just sucks!

Looked like it would rain or maybe storm all day. Did have a little shower this AM but it didn't last. Guess some parts of the state got much rain.

Yesterday, Pat and I went to Easton to the Apple store so he could look at a laptop. Was glad that we went since he had some important questions answered. Stopped at a couple other stores and then home. Not our kind of shopping mall....expensive! Oh my!!

Hope to hear something next week about the opp. school job.....have heard nothing so far.

I have finished another book on my Kindle. Been reading a lot lately! Much like my mother I read the book but don't remember the titles once I read them...LOL

Got wonderful news the other day from Jeremy. He thought he would have to wait 6 months before his class A would take affect but he has been grandfathered in and when he passes his test in Aug. he will be class A on the spot. Woo Hoo!!

Mandi is in Ohio for two weeks. Pat and I are having dinner with her and her parents on Saturday at the Pro's Table. Should be fun. We have met her mom but not her dad. This time we will call Jeremy so he will feel he is part of the evening.

Gave Bill another computer lesson this afternoon. He is doing very well. I think he is no longer afraid of it so he is playing more. He can no play solitare, find his email and read it, send email and check his stocks. Not bad for only two weeks.

"Never trade what you want the most for what you want at the moment"
Now shouldn't we girls all use this as a mantra when we go shopping!! LOL

Pat and I went to Zanesville today to see the movie Public Enemies with Johnny Depp. I say he should stay in his Jack Sparrow character!! Neither Pat or I enjoyed this movie. VERY slow and little plot. I would not recommend this to anyone. And I am a fan of gangster movies.

Here it is Sunday night and no new True Blood!!!! As Beth would say~ "SHUT UP!" LoL I guess I could watch the first three weeks of season two again as they will be on.....So I guess I have to wait til next week for a new episode. Until then.......

OK~I AM SOOOOOO DEPRESSED! LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!! It so sucks getting old. Pat and Jeremy got a good laugh out of it. Just wait...paybacks are hell boys.

Pat and I did errands today. He ordered his new glasses and sunglasses. I went to pick up my sunglasses and they were closed so will try again on Monday. When we got home, Pat mowed so that is done for a few days. Has looked like rain most of the day but none so far. Tomorrow they said we may have some showers.

Gonna watch Red White and Boom on the TV tonight.
Happy 4th everyone!

June 30.2009

This cat is how I feel many days....how about you? LOL
Here it is the last day of June. Jeremy called and his books have been reviewed and approved already. That was super fast since they were just sent out Monday (yesterday). So, he is signed up for the checkpoint in August not September ...good thing! He goes the 24/25th for written tests and an oral presentation. I have not doubt he will do well. His head pro announced to the staff that he was going to his check point and is very pleased he is on his way to completing this important leg of the program.
This was the last day for resumes for the opportunity director job. I have heard nothing. I am just hoping I at least get an interview.
At this point I doubt that I will be going to Florida next week. Since Jeremy is going in Aug. for his checkpoint, he may come home in Sept. for a long weekend. And we are planning on going down for Thanksgiving.
Going to town tomorrow. Have several bags of things to drop off at Goodwill. Then to bank and to help Bill with the computer.
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

June 27, 2009

The little girl's name was Beth. When Beth started swimming at her local swim school, she quickly became the top swimmer in her age group and her teacher told her parents that she had a lot of natural ability.

One day Beth watched the Barcelona Olympics on TV. As she clapped her hands and cheered for her swimming idols, Beth decided that she wanted to win an Olympic gold medal of her own.

Beth joined the local swimming squad and started training. Every morning she got up at 4:30am and went swimming before school began. She progressed well and when she was 17, Beth qualified for the National Championships.

At the championships, Beth needed to finish first or second to make it into the Olympic team. At the sound of the starter's gun, Beth dived into the water and swam as hard and as fast as she possibly could. When she touched the wall and looked up at the results board, she discovered that she had finished sixth.

Beth was very disappointed but she returned home and trained even harder. The following year she finished 5th at the Nationals and the year after that she came 7th.

Beth never did make it to the Olympics, but her years of diligent swimming training led her to join the National Lifesaving Association.

One morning while she was patrolling the beach, Beth saw a young boy struggling in the water. She dived into the raging surf and managed to pull the boy to safety.

The boys parents were crying uncontrollably as they hugged Beth and thanked her over and over again for saving their little boy's life.

In that instant, Beth learned a lesson that would stay with her forever. She realised that even if you don't attain a specific goal, the process of pursuing your dreams often leads you to achieve success in ways you have never imagined.

So never be afraid to reach for your dreams. The skills you learn and the person you become are the real rewards that come from your efforts to transform your dreams into reality.

Ok this is Mandi or myself dragging Jeremy to get his bookwork finished to get his class A ranking.

HE DID IT!!!

What a wonderful anniversary present. He has worked very hard to complete all the books at each level and taken the previous tests to pass each of the first two levels plus the playing test. Now level three is complete~it has been the hardest and most work plus he had changed clubs in the middle of the bookwork so some things had to be udated. I am SOOOO proud of him! He will mail the books in this Monday and then sign up for the test in Sept. Many doors will open for him when he completes this level. I just wish I was there to give him a big hug and kiss. Love you Jeremy!!
