Mouse Update:
Yep, there was a mouse in the house (and one in the garage). Brody had me up three times during the night. I went to the door each time to take him out thinking that is what he wanted. NO, he just stood in the middle of the kitchen looking at me. Do ya think he knew there was a critter about??? I'm sure he did. Luckily he didn't see it and give chase or start to dig it out of it's hiding place. LOL.
Setting traps again for a few days just in case.

November 8, 2009

It was a fun weekend. I went to the craft show at Sacred Heart church on Saturday. Judie was there with me with her Stampin Up stuff. Not many buyers but lots of lookers. I had a few sales and made enough to pay for my table and then a little so it was ok. Saw lots of people I hadn't seen in awhile. :)
Pat had packed up the deck furniture for winter and today we covered it with the tarp. Hate to have to do this but winter will be here soon. It was a great day to do it...sunshining and warm.
Brody still seems to be ok with Ali girl gone. I am pretty sure we have at least one mouse in the kitchen since I heard things last night and saw some signs. He was going nuts around the stove the other night so I think he knows there is something. Pat put out traps today so we shall see. If you can believe this, he went to Wally to get the traps and they were sold out! He got the new kind that you don't have to touch the mouse to dispose. Don't know if it will work as well but....
Well, I have Brody watching the animal planet as I type. It is Dogs 101. I just tell him no barking and he sits and watches. It is too funny! What a dog sitter!!!
Everyone have a great week ahead. Only a couple of weeks and we go to Florida to visit Jeremy and Mandi...can't wait to see you guys!

November 1, 2009

It was quite a weekend around here. Pat was busy with cleaning up outside, gutters, leaves, etc. Then Sat. morning I noticed that Ali our 13 yr. old jack was not doing well at all. She had been shivering lately like she was cold and Sat. she got off the bed and gave a yelp, then couldn't put weight on her back leg. I thought maybe she had a stroke. It didn't get any better by late morning so we decided it was time. Pat took her to the vet and he said she was not going to get any better. She was very anemic and losing blood inside somewhere. Her blood count was very low. The decision was made. We both cried a lot but today we have come to the realization that it was the only and best thing to do. Hard but best. She was suffering. Our young jack, Brody must have known she wasn't well as he didn't bother her much lately. He also does not seem to be looking for her today.
On a happier note, we had Christmas with the Adams family today. Eric, Dave, Porter, Molly and Nora all came from Zanesville for dinner and gifts. Mert and Bill will be in Fla. for the holidays so we do this early. It was great to see everyone. Unfortunately Scott had to stay home to take care of Avery who has had the flu. Speaking of flu, I think Pat has a touch of it as well. He has not slept well this weekend (wonder why?? ) and today he was exhausted and sweating a lot. He came home and went to bed. Seems better tonight.
To those who have posted Halloween pics of your kids, I love them all! What cute, cute, kids they all are. Christy I also love the pic of your hubby. I laughed til I cried. I can't believe he actually went out like that...what a trooper. Bet he surprised the gang at the party. LOL. Maybe someday I will have some grandies to take pictures of to share. I hope so at least.....:)
Have a great week~November already...where does the time go???

Saturday October 24, 2009

Well I completed my crock pot apple butter and according to Pat it is good. I don't eat it so I can't tell if it is edible of not. LOL It wasn't too hard since it was in the crock pot. It cooked all night and then I put it in jars and hot sealed them today.
Colder and rainy here today. I guess we are supposed to have more indian summer next week. One of these days there won't be anymore warm days until Spring...so sad.
I have completed a few more craft items for the bazarre at Sacred Heart on Nov. 7.
Next weekend we do Christmas dinner with the family since we won't all be available on Christmas day. Seems it gets earlier and earlier since Mert and Bill go to Florida before Thanksgiving.
Stay warm everyone~

October 18, 2009

Took Mert to dinner on Friday. It was her and Bill's 41st wedding anniv. Bill is still at Autumn so we took her out. Nothing special...Bob Evans.
Not much going on this weekend. Pat and I went to Roscoe to Apple Butter on Sat. We paid $3 each to walk down and back up Whitewoman street. Didn't buy a thing. Guess I will make homemade applebutter this year...LOL.
Stopped off to see Bill. He is doing MUCH better. Saw Jacie while I was at Autumn. Was GREAT to see her. I miss the school gals so much!
The sun is shining today so that is a good thing. Supposed to warm up this week. I sure hope so!

October 11, 2009

Been a long week. FIL Bill had back surgery last Tuesday. Supposed to be in, overnight and home....NOT. He had complications with his heart rate and they had to keep him longer. Today Mert and Pat report he is much better. Maybe by the middle of the week he will be home.

Got a call from Sacred Heart the other day and I signed up for a table at their Christmas craft show. It is Nov. 1 from 10-2. I have got to get busy organizing my things and deciding what to make and take.

Ali's arthritis has been really bothering her. She is on meds and they seem to be helping somewhat. She's still eating, peeing and pooping so I guess she is ok. Just grouchie in her old age. Poor Brody just doesn't understand why she doesn't want to plan. :(

Everyone have a GREAt week!

October 5, 2009

Our neice Erica just announced that she and Dave are expecting in May. Porter just turned 1 and he will have a new brother or sister next spring. How exciting.

Grandpa Bill has his back surgery tomorrow afternoon in Zanesville. I am going down to sit with Mert while he has his procedure.

Pat and I made our first batch of chili for the fall season. Used some of the fresh frozen tomatoes I put up last month. The chili powder was a new bottle and it was very spicy. VERY good batch! YUMMO!!!

Had breakfast today with Diane Schlegel. Great to catch up with all that is going on in her world and the gifted program. Her daughters are all busy with differnt things. Jenny still struggling with her pain, Erin doing her internship and Amy off to volunteer in Samoa with the tsunami victims. How she keeps up with all of them is beyond me.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the fair. I have not gone out yet and probably won't unless Pat decides we need some fair food. LOL

October 1, 2009

I'm back in Ohio after a wonderful week in Florida with Jeremy and Mandi. It was a GREAT time. I guess I didn't realize how much I really missed them both until I got there and then it was time to leave too soon.
The last day I was there, Tues., they both had to work so I just hung out at the apt. with Nuttyman. Then that night we went to dinner at the Outback with Jeremy's boss Brian. Fabulous time! I am so much more relaxed now knowing that they are only 2hours away if we need them or they need us and they are so stinkin happy it is disgusting...LOL. No really, they are very happy and doing well.
Pat and the dogs were all happy to have me back. Pat is feeling better after the kidney stone incident. He even did all the laundry while I was gone...what a guy! :)
I am having lunch with Linda Clark today ...have much to catch up on. Massage tomorrow and then it is fair weekend. Doubt we will attend but who knows.
Those of you who are teaching....ENJOY THE FAIR BREAK....I KNOW you all need the time off. LOL

September 28, 2009

Sunday~ Jeremy was off so we went to Applebees to watch some of the Brown's game. Didn't take long for us to see that the game was NOT what we had hoped for. So we came home and just hung out at the house. Mandi made a wonderful dinner of chicken and noodle casserole and cheesey potatoes. YUMMO! I have no doubt Jeremy will be well fed as long as they are together...LOL.
Monday~ Jeremy was off today but went in to take care of a few things at the club. He was there longer than he thought because one of the assistants quit. So the remaining guys were scrambling to get schedules rearranged etc. He says they will be pretty busy until this guy is replaced. Mandi and I read and watched T.V. til he came home. He got 5 Guys burgers for lunch. My oh my are they good and we were all stuffed. Watched some T.V. and then went to Sanibel island this evening. Went to the Bubble Room. It is famous for nostalgic stuff on the walls and throughout the place. VERY cool to visit. We each had a drink and then picked out three different desserts to bring home. They are famous for their cakes. The pieces were HUGE! Watched a little football and then we all turned in early. All of us were tired and Jeremy and Mandi both go back to work tomorrow. Peanut and I will hold down the fort. I will pack since I leave early Wed. AM. Tomorrow night we are going with some of their friends to the Outback for Wallerbedarns and some dinner.

September 26, 2009

Hi from sunny Florida! I arrived on Thursday about 4 PM. Mandi picked me up. No problems with the flight at all.Stopped off to see Mandi's school and classroom. It is a very nice school but it is surprising to me that almost all schools across the nation look basically the same. Hers is a middle /high school combo. Knocked on the apt. door and surprised Jeremy. He was happy to see me. That night we went out to dinner and all had prime rib...thanks Grandma Mert! All of us turned in early as both Mandi and Jeremy have been sick with colds and Jeremy had to work the next day.
Friday Mandi and I went to get more cold meds for Jeremy and then dropped them off at his golf course. Got the tour and met some of the staff. They are all very nice and seem to enjoy having Jeremy with them. The club house and pro shop are also nice.
Mandi and I then went to a huge flea market. It had just about anything you could imagine. Was fun. Got a couple of things for Pat while I was there. That evening we went to a restuarant on the beach. We met a couple of Mandi and Jeremy's friends there. While we were there it started to rain. We thought it was a typical afternoon rain which usually lasts about 15-20 min. NO...it poured! Lasted at least an hour. Still raining when we left for home.
Sat.~ Jeremy had to work until 1. Mandi and I slept in. Then we all got ready and went to a sports bar to watch the Buckeyes play. After that we went to a dog track and met some other friends of Mandi and Jeremy's. We had fun...bet a little...lost every time. LOL Home about 9 because we were all tired.
Jeremy and Mandi are both off tomorrow and Monday. Don't know what they have planned for sure but it should be fun. I am just happy to spend the time visiting with them and seeing them so happy together.
Miss Patrick and the kids. Home on Wednesday.

September 22, 2009

My goofy kid! Such a Buckeye fan! He had great news today. Taylor Made golf has signed him on as a rep. That means he will get to use many of their products for free or at a reduced price. He also will be playing in tournaments under their name. Very exciting.
Had to visit the dentist today. Good thing I like him. I broke a tooth, bottom back molar. He was able to correct the problem without a crown which made me very happy. Rained a lot today but we needed it.Maybe more tonight and tomorrow.
Off to watch new season of NCIS and the new NCIS LA.

September 20, 2009

Hard to believe summer is officially over today. Rain and gray skies says Ohio fall is on its way. Had a lovely lunch with Miss Patty today at English Ivy. Good to catch up on things.
Broke a tooth somehow sometime so have an appt. with dentist John tomorrow. Can't wait for the decision on how to fix it..... I think I see another crown coming my way....
Did you hear about the Ohio couple who used invetro fertilization and after months of carrying this baby found out it is from another couples sperm and egg? Now THAT is a law suit!!!! Unbelievable!
Watched the Emmys last night off and on. Was glad to see True Blood was recognized as the break out performance show. Can't wait for season 3 next summer!

Something to ponder:
Who are your friends?

Not acquaintances. Not people who fill your lonely schedule. Not
counterparts to your neurosis. Friends, the ones that are really important,
the ones you invest in. Those relationships where no matter what, no matter
how black you see the other person, you still see the Light beyond the
blackness.

Cherish those friendships. Pour your heart into them. Today, question your
relationships. Who in your life will you be there for, no matter what? Will
they be there for you?

Sure is beginning to feel like fall outside. It is so nice to sit on the deck in the evening enjoying the cool air and no humididty. Dogs seem to like it as well.
Went to lunch yesterday with Patty and then today with Linda. They are both doing their best to convience me that I am better off retired...LOL. I DO miss everyone though.
Plan to take Brody to visit with Zoe again tomorrow for a play date. John is off this week so if it is not raining we will let them play outside.

Final episode of season 2 coming on at 9PM. Wonder how it will all end?

Took Mert out to lunch today since Bill went to a shoot. Went to a new restaurant in Amish country. Smoke House....their food is very good. Pat and Mert had pulled pork and I had grilled chicken. Huge servings!

September 10, 2009

SOMEDAY!!!
Poor Beth has not had her little girl yet. Of course she has not reached her due date yet but she was hoping Camden would arrive early.

Had a lovely lunch on Tuesday with Patty and Becky. Seems things are lets say "different" this year around the district. Then yesterday I had lunch with an old friend Judie. She is now into crafting and is a Stampin Up demonstrator. It was nice to catch up and share crafting ideas.

Jeremy and Mandi are doing well. Jeremy and his head pro are working on his securing a head pro position in the near future. One of the nearby golf courses has closed and has been bought by Troon Golf and he is hoping they will be looking for leadership. Mandi should be starting softball practice with the school kids soon.

Lovely fall like afternoon out today so am off to take the dogs to the deck and enjoy.

September 3, 2009

Spent the day yesterday preparing and freezing 15 1/2 quarts of tomatoes. One of Pat's co-workers brought in a basket for me....a laundry basket! They will be great for chili this winter. Price was right!

Going to lunch later today with Linda C. I sure miss her and the fun we used to have in the office at Washington.

Beth Maxwell Loomis thinks she is ready to have her baby Camden soon. She seems very uncomfortable so for her sake I hope she arrives in the next day or so. I am sure nana Chris is excited as well.

September 1, 2009

Happy September! I was walking Brody last night and noticed some leaves already starting to change. Fall is Pat's favorite time of year. Flannel shirts and cool crisp days. Speaking of Pat, he has almost finished his cupboards in the workshop. It will be a very organized workshop when it is complete. Very nice!

Dogs will be enjoying the cooler weather, well, Brody at least. When we spend time on the deck on cool evenings, Ali shivers since she is cold. Pat says she is like his stepdad Bill who can't stand the cold. We just wrap her up in a sweatshirt or blanket and she is happy.

I have been doing some crafting. Went to a Stampin Up open house at Judie Snoot's house on Ssturday. Bought a couple of new things. Pat and I went to Mt. Vernon on Sunday and I got more ceramic tiles to make coasters and magnets. Then Monday I printed and attached the graphics on each one. Need to purchase more magnets and then begin packaging.

Everyone have a wonderful beginning to the fall season! Those of you back at school, hang in there, next weekend is a long one. :)
